A haymaker-throwing thief thought he could punch his way to a Park Place woman’s pocketbook on July 19, but quickly found his fists in cuffs.

The 33-year-old victim was between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues at 9:30 pm when the attacker punched her in the face, sending her to the pavement. The thug then grabbed the purse from the helpless woman and fled.

Two witnesses saw the attack and were able to ID the suspect during a police canvass.
