A haymaker-throwing thief thought he could punch his way to a Park Place woman’s pocketbook on July 19, but quickly found his fists in cuffs.

The 33-year-old victim was between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues at 9:30 pm when the attacker punched her in the face, sending her to the pavement. The thug then grabbed the purse from the helpless woman and fled.

Two witnesses saw the attack and were able to ID the suspect during a police canvass.

Saw it all

A dangerous electric saw is in criminal hands after it disappeared from a man’s SUV on St. Marks Avenue on July 21.

Police say that the 55-year-old victim parked his 1990 Ford Bronco between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues at around 4:15 p.m. When he returned, he found that his Milwaukee Chop Saw — worth $195 — was gone.

A pair of smooth criminals made off with $7,500 after a well-coordinated pick-pocketing on Washington Avenue on July 23.

The 57-year-old victim said she was leaving the Capital One bank between Eastern Parkway and Lincoln Place after making a withdrawal when she was approached by a middle-aged woman asking for directions.

Seconds later, another lady walked up and appeared to be with the directions-seeker.

After giving directions, the victim went on her way, only to discover that $7,500 had been taken from her pocket.
