Bedford–Stuyvesant
Man of the (early) hour
Standing O is giving a very big thumbs-up to Chad Scott. This Bedford–Stuvyesant son wakes up every morning at 4 am just to coach young men at Bronx Leadership Academy II high school, where he is the dean of discipline. Yes, in the Bronx.
Chad is known for his tough, down-to-business approach for disciplining students, and also knows the very early bird coach makes a very big difference in the lives of his students.
A former basketball player himself, he understands the discipline and determination it takes to become a good ball player — let alone great one. By using basketball as a tool, he instills life lessons into the young men at his school, including timeliness, following directions, dedication, and determination.
“Fundamentals are the key to success,” he says.
Now if only Mr. Scott could start a program here in our borough!
Standing O is saying, “Thank you Mr. Scott.”
