Beach robbers busted
Police say four young men robbed a teen on Dover Street in Manhattan Beach on Nov. 30 — but were arrested two hours later.
The 19-year-old victim was nearing Oriental Boulevard at 12:25 pm when he was approached by a man wearing a purple-and-white bandana over his face, and brandishing a revolver covered in a plastic bag.
The goon snatched the victim’s iPhone and ran off to an awaiting 1999 Mercedes Benz containing three other suspects.
Witnesses took note of the getaway vehicle, which police then tracked to the corner of Foster Avenue and E. 38th Street two hours later — charging everyone inside with robbery.
Police believe this was the second Manhattan Beach crime the suspects were responsible for: on Nov. 29, someone jumped an 18-year-old on Shore Boulevard near Norfolk Street, taking an iPod and a pair of headphones. As in the Nov. 30 crime, the thief had a hard object, possibly a gun, in a plastic bag when he demanded his victim’s property, police said.
PCS pinch
A thief took $1,000 from a Sprint PCS store on Nostrand Avenue during a daring Dec. 3 robbery.
Workers at the store near Avenue X said the thief entered at 5:30 pm, pretended that he had a gun underneath his shirt, and swiped the money from the register.
Jumped on Ave. U
Two thugs attacked a 15-year-old boy during a Nov. 29 robbery on Avenue U.
The victim was nearing Brigham Street at 4:40 pm when the suspects approached, claimed that they had a “grip” — meaning a gun — and then took off with the teen’s iPhone and headphones.
Fed Ex follies
Two thieves masquerading as Fed Ex delivery men raided a Kings Highway AT&T store on Nov. 29, stealing more than 50 Smartphones.
Workers at the store near Coney Island Avenue said the thieves entered in Fed Ex uniforms at 9:22 am, then flashed a gun and demanded the entire inventory of iPhones and Blackberrys.
The thieves made off with more than $11,000 in electronics, officials said.
Robbed on delivery
Three thugs jumped a 49-year-old pizza delivery man as he entered a Nostrand Avenue apartment building on Nov. 23.
The victim was entering the lobby of the building near Avenue V when the suspects followed him in and punched him in the head.
The thugs ran off with the victim’s pie and cellphone when he fell, police said.
Ave. W brawl
Cops say a 17-year-old took a swing at cops called in to break up a brawl on Avenue W on Dec. 5 — and was arrested for it.
Police found a large group of people fighting between Nostrand Avenue and Batchelder Street at 4:13 pm, but, as they stepped in, the 17-year-old suspect took a swing at one of the officers.
Cops took the teen into custody after a brief struggle, charging him with attempted assault.
Bank basher
Police arrested a 44-year-old man who they say attacked two cops inside a Chase Bank on Kings Highway on Nov. 25.
The suspect tried to withdraw $4,800 from another customer’s account, but workers at the Coney Island Avenue branch wouldn’t let him.
That’s when he started yelling, and cops were called in to stop him. As the cops tried to arrest him he head-butted one of the officers, and then pushed the officer into a glass partition, breaking it.
Breaking in
A thief forced his way into an E. 19th Street home on Dec. 4 — but took nothing.
The owner of the home near Avenue T said the thief forced open a side door — shattering a lock in the process — sometime after 9 am.
Window creeper
A crook snuck into a W. First Street home on Dec. 3, taking $200 and some stamps.
The 56-year-old victim said that the thief entered the home near Village Road South after wiggling through a basement window.
Dunked
A thief swiped $9,000 from a Knapp Street Dunkin’ Donuts on Nov. 28.
Workers at the eatery near Harkness Avenue said it was open at 1:40 am when the thief entered and forced an office door.
