Many take steps to stamp out ovarian cancer

An “outgoing” Old Mill Basin woman, who was devoted to her family, was immortalized when her community organized a memorial walk in honor of the late Debbie Moss.

The inaugural trek around Marine Park drew family, friends and even strangers, touched by the plight of the mother of two, who succumbed to ovarian cancer in 1999 at the age of 40.

Moss’s sister, Norine Strazza, said she created the event to commemorate the brave woman, whose children, Tina, 24, and Steven, 15, were among a large crowd of supporters who put their best foot forward to raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS).

Participants brought photographs of loved ones, who died of cancer, which were posted on a memorial board.
