Marathon Runners leg it out in Brooklyn

Marathoners braved morning chills in the 40s to run in the 2008 New York Marathon this past Sunday, which sliced through several Brooklyn neighborhoods from Bay Ridge to Greenpoint.

Lafayette Street in Fort Greene was turned into a rollicking block party as thousands of fans lined the sidewalks to cheer on the athletes. A stereo system mounted on a stoop on the corner of Cumberland and Lafayette played a dance mix for several hours as some marathoners briefly slowed down to show off their moves while the crowd bounced along in unison.
