If you’re planning on driving over the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge this week, you may have to wait.
The bridge is getting inspected, requiring the 540-foot center span to be raised several times a day all week.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority put out a special traffic advisory about the multiple daily bridge lifts, slated to take place between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and between 10:30 am and 11:30 am on Thursday and Friday. Each lift will last about 20 minutes.
The 77-year-old bridge connecting Marine Park to the Rockaways is inspected every two years.
Motorists are advised to use the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge as an alternate route.
