Gunpoint robbery
Two masked gunmen robbed a bodega on Neptune Avenue on Jan. 19.
The victims said the two thieves walked into the bodega near E. 12th Street at 1:13 am and drew handguns. One thief took $1,100 from a victim, and then took that victim and another to a back room while the other thief took $4,470 and an iPhone from behind the counter, police reported. They then fled on foot in an unknown direction, cops said.
The victims said the thieves were wearing ski masks, and told them to look at the ground during the ordeal. Police said they did not find the thieves during a search of the neighborhood, but are looking into video footage that captured the robbery.
Jumped and robbed
A miscreant beat up and robbed a 12-year-old boy on Avenue Y on Jan. 21.
The boy said he was near Brown Street at 7:25 pm when a stranger came up on him from behind, jumped on his back, and brought him down to the ground. The thief then demanded the boy’s phone, and when the boy refused, punched him in the face, causing bruising, police said. The victim said the thief grabbed his hand and threatened to shoot him, so he acquiesced.
Police said the boy was wearing headphones when he was jumped, and refused medical attention. The thief fled on Avenue Y towards the Yak Playground, and there are no cameras at the scene.
Failed wallet theft
A jerk stole a woman’s wallet from her Ocean Avenue apartment on Jan. 14 but then somehow lost it in the building’s stairwell.
Police said the man entered the building near Avenue Z at 1:50 pm by ringing random apartment bells. Once inside, he looked for open apartment the doors, and stole a 33-year-old woman’s wallet from a stroller in the home, according to the police report. The victim said her husband left the door unlocked when he left and she was sleeping.
However, another tenant retrieved the wallet from the stairwell and returned it to the woman, cops said.
Morning break-in
A lowlife robbed a woman’s E. Eighth Street house while she was taking her kids to school on Jan. 16.
The 28-year-old woman said she left her house near Avenue V at 8:45 am with the kids, and when she returned two hours later, noticed her back door had been broken. She said the thief stole cash, a Prada bag and another bag, a watch, and a box used to collect money for charity.
Computer thief
A punk stole a computer and other items from an E. 13th Street apartment on Jan. 16 while the tenant was out.
The 22-year-old man said he and his mom left their pad in the building near Avenue Z at 9 am and that the mom locked the door. But when he returned at 3 pm, he found the door unlocked and an Apple MacBook Pro computer, an iPhone 7, a laptop bag, and Beats by Dre headphones missing.
