Alley cat

A man mugged a woman on the quiet residential Verandah Place on March 25.

The woman told police she believed the thug followed her for a block before obstructing her on the narrow lane between Clinton and Henry streets at 8 pm. The hooligan simulated having a gun in his jacket and threatened to shoot the woman if she didn’t give him her money. She forked over $21.

Un-fairway

Rogues burglarized a Van Dyke street business after kicking in the front door on the night of March 26 and got away with $20 in coins.

The artisan company, in the same building as the Fairway supermarket off Conover Street, was empty between 6:30 pm and 6:21 the next morning.

Yo’ mama’s house

A woman scrambled to her Union Street home to find she’d been burgled after her mother called to say she heard suspicious noises from the first floor on March 26.

The woman, 54, found that the thieves had broken two doors to get inside and steal $740, a variety of jewelry, a digital camera, a camcorder and an iPod. The victim told police she was not in the home, which is between Smith and Court streets, from 8 am until 3:44 pm.

Gem bums

Burglars nabbed many pieces of jewelry from a woman’s apartment near the corner of Court and President streets on March 23.

The woman, 37, said the missing baguettes included an antique engagement ring, several necklaces and earrings, as well as a digital camera.

The police report did not reveal when the crime occurred.
