The Midwood Hornets racked up their third consecutive PSAL lacrosse title last Sunday with a commanding 9 – 5 victory over the Tottenville Pirates. This most recent win brought the Hornets to a season close with a total of twelve wins and only one loss in the boys’ varsity league. The championship game, held at Aviator Sports and Recreation Center on June 1, was the third match-up of the Hornets and the Pirates this season and both teams were looking for the tie-breaking win. Big scorers from Midwood included Cesar Rodriguez with three goals and Stephen Zavos with two. Dylan Sirgiovanni, Moisey Nektalov, Nicholas Wramage and Piotr Michaliszyn also finished with a goal apiece to give the Hornets the win. From the Tottenville Pirates, goals came from Andrew Macina, Gary Glassman, Matthew Macina, Sean White and Thomas Murphy. It was a strong performance from both sides of the field, but Midwood pocketed the win along with the title for a third year in a row.
