To The Editor:
It’s always heart wrenching to read about a missing pet.
I read the article about Steve Tarpin and his beloved dog, Mango, and have some strong words for him and others, who engage in such extremely neglectful behavior toward their pets.
To leave your dog, or cat, to wander the streets, or tied up to a pole outside a store while you do your business, is nothing less than the height of irresponsibility. No one in their right mind would leave their child outside a store alone for even 10 seconds, yet leaving one’s beloved pet alone on a street is deemed perfectly acceptable.
I can only hope that poor Mango, who is now likely dead due to Mr. Tarpin’s extremely poor judgment, was not brutalized by some violent lunatic.
All pet owners need to learn from these tragedies. Do not, even for one moment, leave your dog, or cat, unattended.
They deserve the same common-sense protection as you would provide to a child.
