Hell phones
Thieves were swiping cellphones all over the place last week. Here are the reports:
• A brutal thug punched a woman in the back of the head and snatched her phone at the corner of Cumberland Street and Green Avenue at around 3:30 pm on Nov. 23.
• A ride on the Q train turned violent on Nov. 24, when a thief snatched a woman’s iPod and cellphone, only to fight a losing battle against the victim’s boyfriend and friend. Cops say that the thief made his move around 3:30 pm at the Atlantic-Pacific stop, but the victim’s friends gave chase, eventually catching up with the attacker and forcing him to give up the goods before the criminal escaped.
• A thief took advantage of a man immersed in an e-book on his iPhone, snatching the hip piece of technology and making his getaway on a bike on Nov. 24. The victim said he was reading at the corner of DeKalb and Washington avenues around 8:15 pm when the thief grabbed the phone. It is unclear what story was so engrossing.
• Two brigands smacked a man in the back of the head, stealing with his iPhone at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and St. James Place around 1 am on Nov. 21.
• A thief snatched a Blackberry from a woman’s hands on the C train on Nov. 26. The victim told cops that her attacker grabbed the phone as the doors opened at the Clinton/Washington station at around 5:45 pm.

The holidays are here, and so are the thieves. Here’s a round-up of some thieves’ pre-Christmas presence:
• A crafty thief broke into a woman’s Lafayette Avenue bedroom and eloped with nearly $1,500 in computer gear — all while the victim was fast asleep in the apartment between Grand and Classon avenues on Nov. 23.
• A thief broke into a car and stole a slick navigation system and laptop on Nov. 22. The victim told cops that she parked her car on Hanson Place between Elliot Place and Portland Avenue around 1 pm and returned five hours later to find the stuff gone.
• A thief used a “slim jim” to open a car parked on Hall Street between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues and make off with a purse and two credit cards. The victim said the thief must have jimmied open the door between 7 pm on Nov. 25 and 12:30 pm the next day. The next day, $250 in unauthorized charges turned up on her credit cards.
• A burglar smashed the window of a car parked on Lefferts Place between St. James Place and Grand Avenue and made off with the owner’s phone, wallet and camera on Nov. 27. The victim said he was away from his Lincoln Towncar from only 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
