Ratner raids
There was more trouble at the, well, troubled Atlantic Center and Atlantic Terminal last week. Here’s the rundown:
• A 51-year-old man was arrested on April 27 after he was caught swiping eight pairs of women’s shoes and four handbags from the Marshall’s in the Atlantic Center. The thief was caught by store security just before exiting the store between Fort Greene Place and S. Portland Avenue at 7:10 pm.
• A thief snaked a cellphone out of a woman’s handbag as she perused the aisles inside the Atlantic Terminal Target. The woman was about to buy something at the Flatbush Avenue store at 4 pm when she realized her cellphone had been taken — even though she had possession of her bag the entire time.
• Someone swiped a wallet from a woman caring for her child inside the Atlantic Center on April 30. The woman had put her wallet on the ground as she tended to her child at 8 pm, not realizing that someone was nearby looking to exploit an opportunity.
Animal instincts
A hulking brute scooped a 24-year-old woman up in a bear hug during an April 27 robbery attempt at Washington and Greene avenues, but ended up bounding off empty handed when the woman began screaming.
The victim was nearing the corner at 12:14 am when the thief grabbed her — lifting her off the ground.
Headphone swipe
A thuggish trio attacked a 24-year-old woman at the corner of Atlantic and Fourth avenues on April 21 — taking her cash and iPod.
The woman was listening to her headphones as she neared the corner at around 9:30 pm, and apparently didn’t hear a thing when the crew crept up to her and swiped the goods.
Fun and games
An avid gamer broke into a Vanderbilt Avenue home on April 25, taking more than $2,000 in video games and consoles.
The tenant between Park and Myrtle avenues said the break-in took place sometime after 12:30 am, but it remained unclear how the thief got inside.
iPhone swipe
A crooked G-train straphanger swiped an iPhone from a 29-year-old woman as their train car rumbled into the Classon Avenue station on April 27.
The victim was tinkering on her smartphone at 10:05 am when the thief snatched it from her hand and ran off the train, heading up to Lafayette Avenue.
Shattered cars
Several cars were looted in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill last week. Here’s what happened:
• A thief broke into a 2006 Ford Escape parked near Flushing Avenue and Navy Court on April 26. A digital router was swiped from the vehicle — which belonged to a network installer — between 3:40 pm and 4:30 pm.
• Someone smashed the rear window to a 2001 Mitsubishi parked at Willoughby Street and Ashland Place on April 27, taking an iPhone and a backpack full of schoolbooks. The car’s 24-year-old owner left the vehicle near the corner at 10 am and returned at 11:25 am.
• A perp fishing for easy money on April 27 ended up hooking more than $1,300 from a seafood distributor’s car on Washington Avenue. Someone smashed the window to the car between Park and Myrtle avenues at around 1:15 pm.
• A crook forced open a car left in the St. Joseph College parking lot on Vanderbilt Avenue on April 30, taking a purse that a woman had put under her seat. The 2006 Honda Accord had been parked between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues at 8:20 pm.
