One of music’s biggest nights is on its way to Brooklyn and the list of talent is as long as the expected traffic jams.
Stars including Justin Timberlake, Drake, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke, and Bruno Mars are scheduled to perform.
Timberlake may even reunite with his old ‘N Sync band mates for a special performance, according to reports.
It would be weird if Brooklyn hip hop royals Jay-Z and Beyonce were not in attendance, and if they make it they will be joined by borough mic controllers Mr. MFN Exquire, Troy Ave, and Dyme-A-Duzin.
The internationally televised live show is notorious for its surprise on-stage moments.
Some of the most bizarre and buzzed-about outbursts in Video Music Awards history include: the 2009 show, when Kanye West stole the microphone from Taylor Swift during her “Best Female Video” acceptance speech to say that Beyonce should have won; the 2003 show, when Madonna locked lips with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera; and the 2000 show, when Eminem appeared with a legion of hundreds of Slim Shady look-a-likes to perform his hit single “The Real Slim Shady.”
This year the music network’s signature awards show, will not have a host, making it only the third show in this format since the blow-out premiered in 1984.
