Nerd out! It’s Galapagos Art Space’s nerdiest night of the year

It doesn’t get much more nerd-tastic than the monthly Nerd Nites at Galapagos Art Space — and on Sept. 9, you can celebrate the series’s biggest night of the year with the Nerd Nite Nerdtacular, an evening of lectures that are more than just boring PowerPoint presentations.

“The sheer fact that the venue can accommodate different types of performances has enabled us to open up and expand what Nerd Nite is,” said Nerd Nite founder Matt Wasowski. “It’s made it more fun for everyone.”

To that end, the night will feature lectures on “extraterrestrial dinosaurs,” romance novels, and a rap by Paco Adam Hanlon on famous mathematicians throughout history, as well as the indie rock band Palomar and “science acrobatics” by Kerry Donny-Clark, who, along with a partner, will twist his body into the shape of molecules.

It’s all part of the series’ mission of presenting stimulating subjects in a social setting.

“The spirit of the night is drunken but intellectual,” said Wasowski. “We make sure people leave as drunk and educated as possible.”
