New Emergency chief

Tucker Woods, DO, has been appointed chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Long Island College Hospital of Brooklyn. Dr. Woods, who has been at LICH since 1999, has served as the department’s vice chair since 2006.

In addition to emergency medicine, his areas of expertise and interest include nuclear/biological/chemical emergencies, emergency preparedness, toxicology, trauma, hospital ethics and organ donation.

Among Dr. Woods’s many accomplishments in the Emergency Department are the successful implementation of Healthmatics, a paperless electronic medical records system, and the creation of ED teams, which resulted in reduced waiting time for patients and increased patient satisfaction.

Board certified in Emergency Medicine, he also collaborated on the development of Brooklyn’s first hypothermia protocol. He is a resident of Cobble Hill.

“We are proud that this accomplished physician is advancing his medical career at LICH,” says Dominick Stanzione, Interim Chief Executive Officer at LICH. “It is a testament to our commitment to community medicine and service.”
