No luck: Cyclones crushed on ‘Irish Night’

Auburn 14

July 31 at MCU Park

The luck of the Irish was not on the Cyclones side during Irish Night, as the team’s five game winning streak came to a screeching halt.

The normally dominant Octavio Acosta (2.80 earned-run average) lasted just three innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on five hits while walking two.

Cyclones batters knocked out 11 hits, but only to manage to reach home twice in the second and once in the fifth.

The Cyclones once again face off against the Doubledays on Friday for the final game of the series.

Ups and downs

High of nine: Wednesday night the Cyclones tied their season high runs scored with nine. They are the only team in the New York Penn League to have not scored double digits, though double digits have been put up against them, many times.

Moore of the same: Tyler Moore extended his hit streak to seven games Thursday night.

Straw that stirs the drink: The Cyclones are 9–5 since the front office signed Michael Conforto who is hitting .366 — even after an not getting a hit in five at-bats last night.
