Beat down
Four teenage hoodlums pushed a young woman down on July 21, stealing her iPod and fancy purse, cops said.
The woman told police that she was approached by the thugs as she smoked a cigarette on the corner of Richardson Street and Kingsland Avenue at around noon. With little warning, one of the jerks grabbed her by the neck from behind and pushed her down while the others took off with her purse that contained the digital music device and the Liz Claiborne wallet.
In an unrelated — except for the number of thugs — incident, a 27-year-old man was attacked on Java Street between Manhattan and McGuinness avenues on July 23 at around 2 pm.
In this case, the victim lost his digital tape recorder, cellphone, ID cards, wallet and $15.
Give and take
A pair of thieves used a time-honored approach to crime, asking four men for money and then getting it.
One of the thugs approached the quartet of victims near the corner of Manhattan Avenue and Green Street at around 5 pm and said, “Give up all your money.”
The men relinquished $250, and the thugs fled.
Two days later, a similar approach failed, cops said.
In this case, a perp broke a bottle and brandished it as he approached a man on Monitor Street between Richardson and Herbert streets at around 11:35 pm and said, “Give me all your money.”
When the would-be victim failed to do so, the thug slashed him with a different weapon, cops said. The man obtained minor cuts, but nothing was stolen.
G spot
A New York University student was choked and robbed by a teenager on the G train early on July 24, cops said.
The victim told cops that she was on the train near Nassau Avenue at around 1 am, when the 15-year-old thief grabbed her neck and said, “Don’t do anything or I’ll hurt you.”
It never came to that, as the student handed over her purse, which contained her NYU ID, her iPod, credit cards and a wallet with $40.
Cat burglar
A thief broke into a Metropolitan Avenue apartment and hit a jackpot in jewelry on July 24.
Cops say the thug entered the apartment, which is at Kent Avenue, at around 2 pm and absconded with $30,300 worth of jewelry by Kara Hamilton.
Some Sidekick
Two teens menaced a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy with a screwdriver and got the girl to give up her Sidekick cellphone on July 22, but they were both later arrested cops said.
The teen victims were relaxing on a bench near McCarren Park at around 4:25 pm when they were approached by the two weapon-wielding wildcats.
“Give me your Sidekick before I use force,” one of the thugs told the girl, who handed it over.
The two hoodlums were quickly caught during a sweep of the neighborhood.
In an unrelated incident, a 12-year-old girl had her Sidekick stolen right from her hand on the corner of Bayard and Lorimer streets on July 23 at around 2 pm.
Bike bastard
A woman was in mid-conversation on her iPhone when a bike-riding thief snatched it out of her hand on July 24.
The victim told cops that she was on Leonard Street between Bayard and Richardson streets at around 7:30 when the two-wheeled thug grabbed the popular phone.
The victim chased her perpetrator, but he got away.
Shop lift
A Bonnie and Clyde pair of thieves didn’t shoplift from a Manhattan Avenue shoe store, instead stealing the employees’ purses on July 24.
The thieving team entered the shop, which is between Calyer Street and Meserole Avenue, at around 1:30 pm. The distaff part of the team distracted the employees while the man went grabbed the workers’ pocketbooks behind the counter.
The staff lost wallets, credit cards and an iPod.
