Off-duty police officer arrested, charged with assault

Police arrested an off-duty fellow officer on Feb. 20 on charges of assault and criminal mischief in the 60th Precinct.

The 40-year-old officer allegedly broke down a door at the home of his girlfriend — a state corrections officer — causing her to get at least two stitches in her head from the “violent outburst at 2 am,” according to the New York Post, which added that the man is also the Police Benevolent Association delegate from the borough’s 88th Precinct.

Police arrested him later that day, just after 6 pm, according to the police department, which did not respond to inquiries about where exactly the assault occurred or where the off-duty officer was arrested.
