Talk about below-ground parking.
An oldster drove his four-wheeler into a trench on Avenue V in Sheepshead Bay, sustaining minor injuries, police said.
The 89-year-old driver was driving on Bedford Avenue towards the Belt Parkway on Wednesday when he turned right onto Avenue V at 11 am and lost control of his 2003 Nissan Sentra, flipping it upside down and landing in the six-foot ditch, according to Police Department spokesman.
Firefighters and cops arrived soon after and spent about 15 minutes pulling the man from his four-wheeler car, according to our photographer Steve Solomonson, who rushed to the scene.
Responders rushed the man to Sunset Park’s NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to cops, who said the accident injured no one else.
Workers doing maintenance on an underground pipe dug the trench, but luckily the roughly 12-person crew was toiling further down the block when the elder drove into it, according to Solomonson.
Police called in a towing company to remove the car, which was completely submerged in the hole, some two hours after the incident.
