It was a bad week for old folks in Williamsburg.
Cops collared a woman for slamming her 71-year-old mother-in-law over the head with a chair, lacerating her noggin and causing it to swell on Jan. 10.
The bizarre assault happened at 11 pm in a home on Boerum Street, between Lorimer and Leonard streets. The 46-year-old chair-wielder was booked on assault charges.
The next day, a 70-year-old man got into an argument with someone who responded by throwing a can at the old gent’s forehead. That incident took place on Grand Street, between Roebling and Havermeyer streets.
Helped herself
A lone woman scared off five would-be muggers by simply screaming “Help!”
The thugs — three teenage girls and two teenage boys — approached the 27-year old woman as she was walking along Devoe Street, between Manhattan and Graham avenues, and demanded that she give them her iPod. When she paused, they hit her across the face and grabbed for her purse.
The vastly outnumbered, steely nerved lady responded by screaming, “Help!” prompting the wayward teens to flee.
Rude visitor
A thug repaid a kind man for a glass of water by putting him in a chokehold, threatening him with his own kitchen knife and stealing $80 on Jan. 12.
The perp entered a building on Montrose Avenue, between Leonard Street and Manhattan Avenue, at 6:15 pm, and when he encountered the 31-year-old resident, asked him if he knew a guy named “Rubin.” The tenant didn’t, but when the visitor asked him for a glass of water, he complied.
Once inside the apartment, the visitor took advantage of the tenant’s momentary inattention by grabbing him from behind, menacing him with a kitchen knife, and stealing the cash.
Ex’d out
Cops cuffed a 29-year-old brute after he allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend, punched her in the face, yanked her hair, and swiped $25 from her right pocket, at 3:45 am on Jan. 12 at the southeast corner of Union Avenue and Broadway.
Grand heist
Thieves stole more than $1,200 worth of electronics, including an antique East German camera, from a Grand Street apartment while the two occupants were away from home on Jan. 14.
The 34-year-old tenant told cops she left home at 9:30 am, locking the door behind her. But when she returned at 2:30 pm, the front door was open and some of her and her 26-year-old roommate’s possessions, including the Praktica camera, were missing.
Only the roommate and the super had a key.
