Cops from the 63rd Precinct were called to a Flatlands home last week to arrest a 58-year-old woman who had attacked her 77-year-old husband.
Police said that they arrived at the East 42nd Street home near Avenue J at the behest of the victim, who said that his wife had thrown a bucket of cold water on him twice during a spat at 1:30 a.m. on October 23.
The 58-year-old then grabbed a 10-pound weight and struck the senior in the arms with it.
Cops said that the senior wasn’t seriously harmed.
His wife, who was not named because of his relationship to the victim, was taken into custody, charged with assault in the second degree, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
A thief seen wielding a crowbar as he tried to break into an area home tried to pass himself off as a Con Edison worker last week, police said.
Needless to say no one believed him and called 911 immediately.
Cops were told that a resident of East 27th Street near Avenue R was looking out his window at 3 p.m. on October 27 when he saw the suspect inside his neighbor’s fenced-in back yard with a crowbar in his hand.
When the neighbor confronted the man and asked him what he was doing, the thief said that he worked for “the electric company” and “needed to get into the house,” cops were told.
As the witness went to call 911, the suspect ran off, last seen hoofing it down Avenue S.
There were signs that the thief had tried to pry open the back door, but the lock was never breached.
Investigators were still searching for the thief as this paper went to press.
A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with a break-in at a Flatlands home, police said this week.
Officials said that they apprehended Neville Adams in connection with the looting of a home on Brooklyn Avenue near Avenue I on October 21.
The homeowner told police that she returned to her home that night to find that someone had removed a laptop computer, several pieces of jewelry, two iPods and a PlayStation 3.
After a week-long investigation, cops questioned Adams, who admitted to taking the property.
He was charged with burglary in the second degree, grand larceny and criminal trespass.
Members of the Flatbush Shomrim Patrol have been credited with taking two car looters off the street.
According to published reports, members of the volunteer neighborhood patrol spotted 31-year-old Roberto Garcia allegedly climbing out of a 1997 Nissan Maxima parked on Avenue R near East 27th Street at about midnight on October 27.
Noticing that the car’s lock had been broken, Shomrim members called police, all the while keeping a sharp eye on Garcia as he allegedly fled the area in a Nissan Xterra with accomplice Jose Hernandez, 37.
Thanks to the patrol’s tracking skills, both men were apprehended in nearby Sheepshead Bay and charged with grand larceny.
Members of the Flatbush Shomrim should get a big thank-you card from Mayor Michael Bloomberg. After all, they just saved him from coughing up hundreds of dollars in parking meter re-painting fees.
On the same week as the above incident, Shomrim members helped police nab an alleged graffiti vandal caught leaving his tag on a series of parking meters on Avenue J near East 16th Street.
According to the New York Post, Vebija Bolic, 34, who also goes by the tag name “Acro,” was reportedly leaving his mark on the parking meters at 5:30 p.m. on October 29 when the Shomrim volunteers spotted him.
They group was following Bolic when they alerted a passing cop, who ultimately made the arrest.
Bolic reportedly had magic markers and spray paint on him when he was taken into custody, charged with making graffiti, police said.
A thief ran off with a computer from an Avenue U law office last week.
Workers at the Law Office of Michael Reinhardt, which is connected to the Fillmore Real Estate building near Batchelder Street, said that someone broke in after forcing open a side window sometime after closing on October 24.
The computer was the only thing taken, officials were told.
A free-wheeling thief made off with a $2400 two-wheeler found in a Stuart Street man’s garage last week.
The 37-year-old victim told police that someone snapped the lock to his garage door sometime after 2 p.m. on October 19.
The pricey “specialized” bike wasn’t discovered missing until the next morning, although it could have been much worse, cops were told.
Apparently the thief could have entered and loot the victim’s home, which was attached to the garage, but opted to roll off with the bike instead.
Cops are looking for three thieves %u2013 two teenage women and a man — responsible for a recent robbery on Quentin Road.
Police said that a young woman was walking toward West 6th Street just before 11 p.m. on October 18 when she realized that the three suspects were following her.
When the trio ultimately pounced, one of the thieves held the victims arms behind her back while the male suspect robbed her of her SideKick cell phone and her necklaces.
The thieves were last seen running down West 6th Street, officials said.
Police are continuing their search for the gunmen responsible for opening fire on two Old Mill Basin residents last month.
Officials were told that two masked men entered a home on East 58th Street near Avenue K just after 8:30 a.m. on October 5 and opened fire on a 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man they found inside.
The female victim was struck twice in the leg, officials said. The male suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.
Witnesses said that the unidentified suspects fled the area in a brown jeep.
Police were still searching for the gunmen, who they believe specifically targeted the couple, as this paper went to press. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the victims had a previous history with their assailants, who they may know, according to sources.
