On the right track – Metro SportsMed backs kids

Three college-bound students received a green helping hand when Metro SportsMed presented them with $3,500 for their higher education during a ceremony at KeySpan Park.

The endowments marked the physical and occupational therapy facility’s Ninth Annual Scholarship Athlete Awards at the local baseball turf, 1904 Surf Avenue.

The recipients in the girls’ group were: Katherine Griffin, 1st place, Bishop Kearney High School, 2202 60th Street; Julia Morris, second place, St. Savior’s High School, 588 6th Street; and Tara Mullen, third place, Bishop Kearney High School.

The boys’ winners were Ivan Gando, first place, and Lenny Proskurovsky, second place, Midwood High School, 2939 Bedford Avenue; and Michael Sundholm, third place, Fort Hamilton High School, 8301 Shore Road.

The students were judged on their athletic and academic performances.
