Fund-raisers? More like fun-raisers!
Here at Bay Ridge Nights, we like to advocate for drinking, rocking (occasionally in conjunction with rolling), and all things Saint Patrick’s Day, but we’re deeper than that! Sometimes you have to give back to the neighborhood that has given you so much. So open up your wallet and give some of these neighborhood fund-raisers your hard-earned dough — if philanthropy doesn’t give you that warm feeling inside, the complimentary booze will.
On Friday, bound over to neighborhood knick-knackery Hom (8806 Third Ave. between 88th and 89th streets) and hand those cats $10 to get into the “Party for Paws” — a benefit for animal rescue group Twenty Paws Rescue starting at 7:30 pm. You’ll get a free drink and the chance to win swag in a bevy of raffles, and there will be booze specials all night. All of the cash you throw down will go to the organization’s operating budget.
Then sail to No Quarter Tavern (8015 Fifth Ave. between 80th and 81st streets) at 6 pm on Saturday to help the hard-drinking buccaneers raise money to cure Multiple Sclerosis. Hand the pirates 20 doubloons, and they’ll give you a free shot. Plus there will be raffles and live music.
On Sunday, beat feet over to Leif Bar (6725 Fifth Ave. between 67th and Senator streets) for a Fleet Week fund-raiser from 2 pm to 9 pm. Sure the money is technically for a Staten Island thing, but you’d be lying if you said you never enjoyed the bucolic borough’s water show from Bay Ridge’s cosmopolitan shores. For a mere $20, you get to enjoy hours of some of the Ridge’s best bands — Cherry Bomb, Sha Doobie, Steppin Back, Prodigal Child, and Nowhere Man will all be tickling strings for your pleasure. And all the cash will go toward tent, stage, and equipment rental for a Fleet Week concert.
But don’t stick around at Leif Bar’s Richmond-focused fete too long, because a more parochial organization needs your cash. Salty Dog (7509 Third Ave. between Bay Ridge Avenue and 76th Street) is collecting donations for the annual Norwegian Day Parade from 4 pm to 8 pm. Fork over a Jackson, and you’ll get to stick your snout in a buffet and dessert — plus there will be raffles and door prizes.
