The Brooklyn Arts council will host a memorial poetry reading to remember the thousands of victims lost on 9-11 at P.S. Bookshop on Sept. 9 from 7–8:30 pm. Red Hook

To remember a courageous Brooklyn firefighter who gave his life on 9-11, the Stephen Siller “Tunnel to Tower” run will take place again this year on Sept. 26 in Coffey Park in Red Hook.

The run follows the path that Siller, from Park Slope’s Squad 1, took on 9-11 after he found out that the towers had been struck. He wanted to help, but couldn’t get out of Brooklyn due to traffic. Instead of waiting, he abandoned his car and ran through the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel to Ground Zero, where he lost his life.

Actor John Turturro will MC the event for the eighth year, comedian Dennis Miller will participate, and former Mayor Giuliani will be there, too.

The five-kilometer run begins at the Gowanus approach to the Tunnel at 9:30 am. Registration is $50 through Sept. 22, and $60 afterwards. All proceeds go to charity. Online registrations closes on Sept. 25. For more info, visit www.tunneltotowersrun.org.

Star ’69, a Grateful Dead cover band, will play at Funk Rooftop on Sept. 11 from 4–10 pm. The band will be joined by Cold Flavor Repair and Tom Phonic as part of the September Concert series.
