Public School 58 students visited Assemblywoman Joan Millman’s District Office to deliver an art book, made possible through funding provided by Millman.
Led by Natalie B. Jones, Teaching Artist for the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Arts In Education Program, students in Ms. Wilke’s second grade class created a unique book of illustrations and writing entitled “Time Travel,” reflecting on interviews the children conducted with senior citizens at the Eileen Dugan Senior Center.
“Due to budget cuts, so many of our public school children have limited exposure to the arts and that is why I support this program,” said Millman. “Brooklyn Arts Council’s Arts In Education Program brings children out of the classroom and into the community to observe and interact with their surroundings. Students at PS 58 merely needed to cross the street to the Eileen Dugan Senior Center for inspiration. It was an invaluable experience for both the seniors and children.”
