NY Perks is slowly becoming a cop hangout, but not for the right reasons.
A squad of cops rushed over to the Smith Street night spot near Warren Street just after 3 a.m. December 26 on a report of shots fired.
While they didn’t find a man with a gun, they came across a brawl between patrons that had spilled out onto the street.
Police said that patrons began pushing against them as they tried to break the combatants up.
Some at the bar allegedly tried to spark a fight with the police, but cops from the 76th Precinct declined.
Instead, they arrested a few of the alleged upstarts, identified later as 23-year-old Christopher Lemons, 21-year-old Ernesto Nieves Jr., 29-year-old David Dobbins Jr. and 27-year-old Shatee Harvey.
All four were charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental service, disorderly conduct and inciting people to riot.
Sergeant John Schwartz and Police Officer Joseph Odachowski were credited with the arrest.
This is not the first time cops had been sent to NY Perks.
Two weeks earlier, a 22-year-old woman claimed that someone made off with her purse.
She thought her bag would be safe since it was in the lounge’s VIP section, she said.
New Year’s grab
New Year’s Day wasn’t 22 hours old before a sticky-fingered thief tried to make off with a woman’s purse on Carroll Street.
The 60-year-old victim said that she was nearing Court Street at 9:14 p.m. on January 1 when two young thugs jumped her.
The duo, 13 and 14, tried to grab her purse, but broke away when she began screaming for help.
Responding officers arrested the two teens, who were not named because of their age, after a quick tour of the neighborhood.
Both were charged with attempted grand larceny.
