Pickpocket snatches wallet during Mermaid Parade

60th Precinct

Coney Island—Brighton Beach—Seagate

New York hustler

A pickpocket pinched a Midwestern tourist’s wallet at Surf Avenue during the Mermaid Parade on June 20.

The 24-year-old woman told cops she was near Stillwell Avenue at 2:48 pm during the cavalcade when she felt someone jostle her backpack, and when she checked her bag, found that someone had unzipped it and slipped off with her wallet, which contained $10, credit cards, and an Ohio driver’s license, a police report states.

Bold heist

A perky perp pilfered coffee and honey from a Brighton Beach Avenue deli on June 17.

The caffeinated cretin walked right in the front door between Brighton 11th and Brighton 12th streets in Brighton Beach at 2:10 am, because the doorway was simply covered with a tarp, police said.

Misfortune cookie

An awful opportunist took $1,500 from a Chinese food delivery guys’ scooter while the poor sap was dropping lunch to Brighton First Street on June 19.

The driver brought lunch to an apartment between Brighton Fist Place and Brighton First Terrace in Brighton Beach at 2:40 pm, but when he returned to his ride, his cash was gone, officials said.

No fare

Two fiends robbed a taxi driver with a beer bottle on W. 28th Street on June 21.

The driver picked up his fares at the corner of W. 28th Street and Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island at 7:30 am, police said. They asked him to take them to an address just down the block toward Surf Avenue, but as they approached the destination, the goon in the front seat told the cabbie to cough up his cash and the brute in the back seat brandished a beer bottle and said “I kill you,” according to a police report.

The driver gave them $230, and the punks fled on foot, a police report states.
