Causing a stir
Two people were arrested Saturday morning when a near riot almost broke out at the corner of Avenue U and East 12th Street, police said.
Cops said that they were called to the corner just before 2:45 a.m. on October 4 when they were confronted with a group of five people acting out and screaming at the corner.
When the officers tried to quell the crowd, one of the men began screaming profanities at the cops.
That man was arrested for disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly as well as criminal impersonation when cops demanded to see his ID and he pulled out a driver’s license that didn’t belong to him.
The man’s identity was never revealed, officials said.
A second man, identified as Avenue J resident Michael Richman, 18, was taken into custody for allegedly acting out with the police’s John Doe. He was later charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance when they allegedly found an amount of cocaine hidden in his sock.
Mini mart menace
Two hooded masked men are responsible for raiding a neighborhood grocery last week, officials said.
A worker at the Mini Mart, located on Avenue S near Coney Island Avenue, said he was behind the counter at 3:40 a.m. on October 1 when the two men came inside.
Each man pulled a gun and demanded the money from the register.
The two suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No injuries were reported.

Climbing crook
A thief used a ladder to get inside a Midwood home last week, officials said.
The victim, a resident of East 23rd Street near Avenue S, said that someone put a ladder against her home and scrambled up to a second-floor window with an air conditioner sticking out of it.
The thief pushed in the air conditioner, entered through the hole he created and raided the place of $900 and a credit card.
The crook reportedly fled the home through the same window, leaving the ladder behind.
Beaten in Flatlands
A 25-year-old area man was arrested on charges that he beat up a woman on East 59th Street near Avenue J.
Prosecutors said that Erron Alexander was charged with assault in the third degree, menacing and harassment in connection with the 7 a.m. attack on October 2.
The victim told police that she was kicked and punched repeatedly allegedly during the class with Alexander. She suffered some bruises and sustained some injuries to her ribs as a result, police said.
Alexander was arrested on October 3, police said.
Teen robbed
A 15-year-old was robbed of his cash as he passed the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Quentin Road, officials said.
The victim said that he was walking along Nostrand Avenue at 10:10 p.m. on October 1 when the thieves, described as two white males, pulled a gun on him.
The suspects robbed their victim of $60 and ran off, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Left marked
A man was arrested last week for allegedly slicing a man’s chest open during a fight in Flatlands.
Prosecutors said that 19-year-old Francisco Marquez was charged with assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment this week in connection with the September 19 attack on Hubbard Place near East 39th Street.
The victim said that he was arguing with the 19-year-old when he allegedly began punching him in the face.
The suspect then lunged at him with a knife, cutting open his chest, police alleged.
It was unclear what sparked the fight as this paper went to press.
Signs of the times
A 45-year-old man was arrested last week when he was caught allegedly trying to run out of a neighborhood store with a bag of rice under his arm, police said.
Police said that Shifeng Lu, a resident of East 22nd Street, was charged with petit larceny following the theft from the grocery, located on Avenue U and Homecrest Avenue, at 12:20 p.m. on October 4.
Workers managed to stop Lu from leaving the store without incident and hold him until police could take him into custody.
Swerving to slammer
A 41-year-old Ralph Avenue man was arrested last week when he was caught driving intoxicated on Avenue U near Coney Island Avenue, police alleged.
Police said that Richard Lazaini was allegedly seen swerving in and out of traffic lanes as he drove southbound on Coney Island Avenue at 4:30 a.m. on October 4.
A police officer pulled his 2001 Toyota over, allegedly smelled alcohol on Lazaini’s breath and took him into custody, charging him with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
Picking away
A thief entered a Gerritsen Avenue garage last week with the help of his trusty pick-axe, cops from the 61st Precinct said.
The 25-year-old victim said that someone entered his property, located near Avenue S, sometime between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on October 3.
After pocking his way into the garage, the thief reportedly stayed for a brief time, then fled with an air compressor, a pipe cutter and a chain saw.
Busted on Coyle
A 46-year-old man was apprehended last week when he was caught allegedly trying to break into a gated yard on Coyle Street near Avenue U, police said.
Police said that Robert Murphy was charged with attempted burglary at 1:20 a.m. on October 1 when cops allegedly saw him trying to force open the locked security gate.
The gate was damaged as Murphy, whose address was not released, tried to force his way inside, officials allege.
Garage raided
A set of china and an assortment of model rail road trains were taken from a garage on East 22nd Street last week.
Cops were told that someone forced their way into the garage by smashing a side window sometime between September 13 and September 30.
The thief then raided the shelves, taking the dishes and model trains, the 67-year-old owner of the property told police last week.
Cops were looking for the thief as this paper went to press.
UPS robbery
A UPS deliveryman was a shot in the leg Monday during a botched robbery on Kings Highway in Flatlands, officials said.
Police were told that the deliveryman was dropping off parcels in front of 4109 Kings Highway at 12:30 p.m. September 29 when he was confronted by two black males.
The suspects demanded his property. When he refused, one of the suspects pulled a gun and opened fire, striking him in the leg.
The UPS worker was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment.
The two muggers were still at large as this paper went to press.

Using children as bait
Three fiendish thugs threatened a Midwood man’s son during a tense scene in the resident’s East 14th Street home recently, officials said.
Officials said that the 26-year-old victim was watching television upstairs in his home, located near Avenue R, just after 7:45 p.m. on September 25 when the three thieves surprised him.
The suspects, who were operating with a fourth accomplice acting as a lookout, reportedly jimmied their way into the home and grabbed the victim’s son, who was watching television on the first floor.
They grabbed the child, covered his mouth and brought him upstairs, where they reportedly told the victim they were going to harm him if he didn’t give them what they wanted.
“You know what we’re here for,” the suspects said before looting through the victim’s closet, where $1,500 in cash and some jewelry were found.
The suspects fled the scene after the lookout informed them that the victim’s wife was arriving home.
In the end, no harm came to the victim’s son, officials said. Cops were still looking for the thieves as this paper went to press.
Romeo must die
A 27-year-old man was arrested last week on charges that he took pot shots at someone who had reportedly slept with his girlfriend, police said.
Prosecutors alleged that Adiel Ford was driving down Woodruff Avenue near Kenmore Place at 1:30 a.m. on September 30 when he spotted his girlfriend’s other lover riding down the same street.
Ford allegedly screamed “What’s up?” from behind the wheel of his Lincoln and then let loose a barrage of bullets at the hapless bicyclist.
Police said eight shots were fired. Ford’s alleged victim was struck in the leg and back.
While he was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Kings County Hospital, the victim allegedly identified Ford as his shooter, said police.
Area cops found Ford on October 1, charging him with attempted murder.
Smacked around
A fractured relationship between a 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman ended up reaching its breaking point in East Flatbush when the male punched the woman in the face on an area street corner, police alleged.
Police said that the boyfriend, identified as Randy Carddock, was charged with assault following the attack at the corner of East 34th Street and Avenue D.
The two were arguing at the corner at 1:30 a.m. on September 27 when Carddock allegedly punched his estranged love and stormed off, police said.
The woman went to the hospital, suffering from a swollen eye, officials said.
Molester arrested
Cops have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with three area sex attacks stretching back to January.
Police announced last week that they had connected DNA evidence recovered from three separate incidents to one man: Erick Lewis of St. Mark’s Avenue.
Lewis, the DNA showed, was allegedly responsible for grabbing a 38-year-old woman in the elevator of a nearby building at 1 p.m. on January 17 and then dragging her to the laundry room, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.
He is also being charged with pulling a gun and sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman inside an elevator in an area building on August 17, as well as a third similar attack on a 41-year-old woman on September 11, when he again sexually assaulted his victim at gunpoint, police alleged.
Police said that by the time they had linked the attacker’s DNA profile to Lewis, who was compelled to give a DNA sample during a previous prison stint, he had allegedly fled the area.
Detectives caught up with him in Birmingham, Alabama on October 2 and were in the process of extraditing him back to New York as this paper went to press.
Bottle bruiser
Police said that 53-year-old Dennis Silver was arrested last week when he allegedly attacked another man with a glass bottle – apparently after whatever their disagreement they had was over.
Prosecutors were told that the victim was walking past the corner of Church Avenue and East 18th Street at 11:58 a.m. on October 4 when Silver allegedly followed him down the street.
Silver then grabbed the victim from behind and struck him in the head with a glass bottle, police alleged.
The victim suffered some bruises and cuts to the head, but was otherwise uninjured.
Cops apprehended Silver a short time later, charging him with assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
Killed after party
A 20-year-old man was killed last week as he and his friend left a party on East 19th Street near Tennis Court.
Officials said that the unidentified victim and his 19-year-old friend were passing the corner at 11 p.m. on September 22 when the phantom gunman crept up to them and opened fire.
The 19-year-old was shot in the leg, officials said. The 20-year-old victim was shot in the head and died at the scene.
Cops did not disclose what sparked the shooting.

Help wipe out graffiti
As the ongoing war against graffiti vandalism continues, cops are now offering a $500 in reward money to anyone with information that can lead them to graffiti vandals.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, which is one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.
Officials said that cleaning up graffiti is essential to the plan, to show that the community is no longer going to tolerate marred and tagged-up walls and street corners.
According to police, there is a perception that if a community will tolerate graffiti, they will tolerate other criminal activities, such as drug dealing and prostitution.
Anyone with information about graffiti vandalism is urged to contact either 311 or 911.
Near-execution arrest
A 25-year-old man was apprehended last week in connection with a near-execution in June where two men fired 11 shots at a hapless victim, police said.
Prosecutors said that Alex Boulet was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment in connection with the brazen June 14 shooting, which took place just before 5 p.m. on Remsen Avenue near Ditmas Avenue.
The victim, who survived the ordeal, told police that he was on Remsen Avenue when Boulet and an unidentified male allegedly approached.
Each man pulled guns and opened fire, officials alleged.
The victim was hit twice, in the chest and jaw. The bullet that hit him in the mouth broke his jaw, prosecutors were told.
After an exhaustive investigation, members of the Brooklyn South Detective Squad caught up with Boulet last week, taking him into custody without incident.
