Fort Greene–Clinton Hill
Biker busted
Cops cuffed a teen on Aurelia Court in Flatlands on Aug. 11 when they saw him with an allegedly swiped CitiBike from Fort Greene.
Police stopped the 16-year-old near E. 31st Street at 2:39 pm for riding on the sidewalk, and discovered the bike was stolen, according to a police report. The kid supposedly took the ride from a docking station on the corner of S. Portland and DeKalb avenues at 2:18 pm the day before, the report says.
Punch and grab
A quick-fisted crook punched a man in the face on DeKalb Avenue on Aug. 12, and stole his backpack, police said.
The 24-year-old victim told police he was between Classon and Grand Avenues, heading towards Hall Street at 2:30 am, when the sucker puncher came up and hit him in the face.
Then the thug took his bag, and told him not to fight, “Or you’ll get cut,” according to authorities. The black Northface backpack contained a wallet with a debit card, a MetroCard, and some cash, police said.
Street shooting
A gunman fired multiple rounds at a man on the corner of DeKalb and Clermont avenues on Aug. 15, hitting him once in the buttocks, police said.
A 47-year-old man told authorities he was walking to his car at 1:47 am when the shots started. He saw the shooter take off on Clermont heading towards Lafayette Avenue, cops said.
Copper caper
A security guard and two helpers stole a bunch of copper pipes from a business on Myrtle Avenue on Aug. 9, police said.
The owner of the mechanical repair company told police he locked up the building between Ryerson Street and Grand Avenue when he left for the day, and that surveillance footage shows a security guard for the company entering with his keys at 8:30 pm.
The guard and two other guys are then seen leaving the building at 8:56, carrying the copper pipes, according to the police report.
Push and prowls
Three apartments were robbed this week. Here’s the rundown:
• A burglar pushed in the air conditioning unit of an apartment on Fulton Street on Aug. 13, and stole a man’s camera equipment, cops said.
The 33-year-old victim told police he left the apartment, between Grand and Classon avenues at 9:30 am, and when he returned at 9 that night, his equipment was gone. The thief hauled off a Canon camera, a lens, a backpack, and a camera bag, a police report said.
• A sneaky thief stole two computers and other electronics from a S. Portland Avenue building on Aug. 15, authorities said.
The 35-year-old resident told cops she left her apartment between DeKalb and Lafayette avenues at 3:50 pm to go to the park, and when she got home at 6:45 pm, the goods were gone. The door was locked when she left and when she returned, according to a police report. The sneak made of with a desktop computer, a laptop, a portable hard drive, and an electronic tablet, the report says.
• A burglar snatched a bicycle from inside a S. Oxford Street apartment the next day, police said.
The 34-year-old, who lives between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue, said he left his apartment at 9:30 am and returned to find his window open and front door unlocked at 9:15 pm. Multiple drawers in the apartment had been opened, and the guy’s white Cannondale bike was gone, cops said.
Kid cuffed
Police arrested a 16-year-old who they said stole a girl’s cellphone on DeKalb Avenue on Aug. 14, and then rode away on his bike.
The victim, also 16, told cops she got into an argument with the other teen at 8:56 pm, on the sidewalk between Hall Street and Classon Avenue. Then the kid allegedly snatched her phone and rode away, police said.
Authorities caught up with him 30 minutes later, at the corner of Willoughby and Bedford avenues, and arrested him, according to a police report. He had the girl’s phone still in his possession, the report claims.
Subway steal
Someone stole a man’s wallet aboard a crowded 5 train on Aug. 15, police said.
The 24-year-old straphanger told cops he boarded the packed Manhattan-bound train at the Atlantic Avenue stop at 8:35 am. He was bumped several times before the next stop, which is Nevins Street, near the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street, according to a police report.
The train cleared out and he noticed his wallet was missing, the report says. The wallet contained debit and credit cards, and $200 in cash, cops said.
Car burgled
A burglar broke into a car parked on the corner of Cumberland Street and Atlantic Avenue on Aug. 15, according to police.
The 66-year-old car owner told cops she parked the vehicle at 8:20 am, and when she returned at 6 pm she found her passenger-side window broken. The thief made off with a backpack, and a wallet that contained a debit card and some cash, police said.
Auto thefts
Two vehicles went missing in the precinct this week.
• Someone stole a 2001 Dodge Durango from the corner of Steuben Street and Park Avenue on Aug. 11, police said.
The 52-year-old owner told cops he locked it up at 11 am, and when he returned at 7:45 that evening, it was gone.
• Then a crook snagged a 1999 Ford Econoline from Ashland Place, between Myrtle Avenue and Willoughby Street on Aug. 14.
The 64-year-old owner of that van told police he left it parked at 10:30 am, and found it missing when he returned two hours later. He also told police he left the keys inside.
