Construction injury
A worker at an area construction site sustained serious injuries during a mishap.
Officials confirmed that EMS personnel went to the construction site, which was not disclosed, Tuesday morning, June 24, to assist an injured worker.
It was unclear how extensive the man’s injuries were as this paper went to press.
Robbery fall
The number of robberies in Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO has dropped by 15 percent this year, according to recent NYPD statistics.
Police said that by June 15, 88 robberies had been reported to the Gold Street stationhouse.
On the same date in 2007, 104 robberies had occurred in the command, officials said.
Statistics show that the 84th Precinct is celebrating a 44 percent drop in felony assaults (from 88 to 49) and a 28 percent fall in burglaries (from 66 to 47).
The number of car thefts in the command has risen, however, from 22 in 2007 to 28 this year.
Bag swipe
A sticky-fingered thief made off with a woman’s handbag as she dined at Tex Mex Lobo on Court Street.
The woman told police that she had accidentally left her bag on a window sill in the eatery, located near Wyckoff Street, at 9:30 p.m. on June 12.
When she realized what she had done, she returned to the restaurant, only to discover that someone had already helped themselves to the bag, which contained two credit cards, about $30 in cash, a ring and a pair of prescription sunglasses.
Robbed of phone
Cops were looking for a heavy-handed thug responsible for a cell phone robbery on Hoyt Street near Pacific Street last week.
Officials said that the victim was walking through Boerum Hill at 1:40 p.m. on June 13 when the unidentified thief grabbed her from behind, spun her around and punched her in the face.
The thief then ran off with the woman’s Sidekick cell phone.
No serious injuries were reported.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Circuit breaker
Thieves broke into Circuit City, 625 Atlantic Avenue, last week, removing 10 19-inch flat-screen televisions valued at $4,900, officials said.
Police said that the burglary took place sometime before 11 p.m. on June 12.
The thieves, police were told, broke the back door so they can get inside.
Cops were searching for the burglars as this paper went to press.

Closet raid
A 20-year-old woman told police that someone rifled through her home closet for $4,000 that she had secreted inside.
The woman said that she had last seen the money in a suitcase inside the closet of her Bond Street home back on April 15.
When she went to retrieve the money on June 7, the cash was gone, officials said.
The woman believes that a home health aide that works in the home may have been responsible for the theft.
Warren St. war
A 31-year-old man from Warren Street told police that he was attacked by a neighbor in his building.
The victim said that he was in the hallway of his building, located near Third Avenue, at 1:30 p.m. on June 18 when his neighbor, who is also 31, began arguing with him.
After exchanging a few choice words, the victim entered his apartment. Seconds later, his neighbor was pounding on the door, demanding that he open up.
When he did so, the neighbor slashed at him with a knife, cutting his thumb. No serious injuries were reported.
Cops were investigating the Warren Street man’s claims as this paper went to press.
Sinful shopping spree
A 25-year-old man was arrested last week when he was caught coming out of Target with a cart heaping with pilfered items, police alleged.
Officials allege that Ronald Stevenson was spotted coming out of the department store, located at 139 Flatbush Avenue, at 9:30 p.m. on June 10 with over $1000 in property.
He didn’t pay a dime for the baby clothes, 19 CDs, eight bottles of perfume, seven Playstation games, Wii game and Wii controller that was found on him as he tried to make a hasty exit, officials alleged.
Cops charged him with grand larceny.
Severance pay
Cops believe that a former employee at an area business may be responsible for a recent – and wacky – theft there.
Police were told that someone entered the business, located at 508 Smith Street at 9:16 p.m. on June 8 by using a key to the front door.
The thief left with a 1999 white Ford van and a magnetic drill.
But, sometime later, the thief came back and returned the van.
He kept the drill, however, police were told.
