Police have released a surveillance photo of the man responsible for robbing the Dime Savings Bank at 2172 Coyle Street.
Witnesses said that a six-foot-tall, 185-pound black male entered the bank at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, November 8 and handed the teller a threatening note.
When the teller handed him a small amount of money, the thief ran off.
Cops searched the area for upwards of an hour but the thief, who was last seen running toward the Sheepshead Nostrand Houses, was nowhere to be found.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this man’s identity to call the NYPD CrimeStoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
Cops in Coney Island made a picture-perfect arrest last week when they rounded up and arrested two men wanted for stealing dozens of disposable cameras from an area supermarket.
Workers for the Pathmark at 2965 Cropsey Avenue told police last week that Alf Macklin, 22, and James McCoy, 39, were allegedly seen taking 23 disposable Fuji cameras and 14 disposable Polaroid cameras from store shelves at 11:10 p.m. on November 11.
After being alerted to the theft, responding officers found Macklin and McCoy a short distance away from the supermarket less then ten minutes later, allegedly holding a bag containing all of the stolen cameras.
Prosecutors charged the two men with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
A thug attacked and a robbed a 47-year-old bar patron after offering to escort her to a Sheepshead Bay car service station, officials said.
The woman told police that she was preparing to leave the Log Cabin bar at 4 a.m. on November 8 when a 25-year-old man who had been chatting with her offered to walk her to the nearest car service.
The woman accepted, but when they reached the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Avenue Z, the thief struck her in the head, knocking to the ground.
The thief then grabbed the woman’s purse and ran off with it, officials said.
Police are looking for a thief who stole both a cell phone and a kiss from a 16-year-old woman on 20th Avenue near 78th Street.
The victim said that she was walking by the corner at 10:30 p.m. on November 14 when the unidentified thief grabbed her from behind and put a knife to her throat.
The thief reportedly kissed the teen on the mouth, told her to be quiet and then dragged her to a nearby driveway where he took her cell phone.
Police were told that the woman suffered some cuts to her face and hand, but was otherwise unharmed.
Two men accused of robbing a 39-year-old man in Bath Beach were arrested Saturday after a witness delayed them long enough for police to arrive.
Officials alleged that Igor Shabadash, 32, and Victor Mortuyu, 31, pulled both a knife and a gun on their victim as he walked past the corner of Bath and 20th avenues just after 1 a.m. on November 15.
The two men reportedly struck the victim in the face and knocked him to the ground before running off with their cell phone.
What they didn’t know was that the robbery was committed in front of a witness, who followed them as they made their escape.
While the two only stopped long enough to push the witness into some nearby bushes, the interruption gave police enough time to catch up with the two men, who were later charged with robbery.
A 21-year-old Coney Island woman was arrested last week when she allegedly lashed out at her ex-boyfriend.
Prosecutors charge that Meyssy Saavedra was arguing with her former love inside a West 21st Street address at 11 p.m. on November 9 when she punched him in the face and kicked him in the groin.
Responding officers charged the young woman with assault, attempted assault and menacing.
The man was bruised, but not seriously harmed, officials said.
It was unclear what the two were arguing about as this paper went to press.
Cops have arrested an 18-year-old who allegedly tried to rob a fellow Sheepshead Bay High School student in a gym locker room.
The 16-year-old victim said that he was in the middle of changing his clothes in the locker room at 3000 Avenue X when Ronald Garcia, a resident of Nostrand Avenue, allegedly demanded his money and started going through his pockets.
The victim pushed Garcia away, but the 18-year-old reacted violently, punching him repeatedly in the face, officials allege.
Garcia was picked up a short time after the November 12 confrontation and was charged with robbery.
A Gravesend woman was awakened by a cash-strapped creep who snuck into her apartment last week, cops from the 62nd Precinct were told.
The victim, 22, said that the 30-year-old white male forced open her apartment window at 5 a.m. November 9.
The woman woke up as the thief grabbed her by the night shirt, ordering her to hand over her cash.
He ultimately escaped with some of the woman’s jewelry.
