Police Blotter

Road rip

Here’s one guy who should have taken the bus: A 29-year-old Canarsie man told cops recently that he was slashed with a razor as he took a livery van along Flatbush Avenue last week.

The victim said that he was sitting in the passenger seat as the van rolled along the park near Empire Boulevard when he got into an argument with the driver.

The dispute ended with the driver pulling out a razor or ice-pick — the victim wasn’t sure which — and lunging at the victim.

The victim suffered a cut cheek and scrambled out of the van at Grand Army Plaza.

Cops were looking for the livery cab driver as this paper went to press.

Home looted

A 13th Street resident returned home Friday to discover that someone had made off with his laptop computer and two computer game consoles.

The 33-year-old told police that he left his home at 9 a.m. on May 8. He returned at 10 p.m. that night and discovered that an unannounced visitor had stopped by.

Police believe that the thief forced open a window leading to a fire escape to get inside.

More window woes

Windows were a big draw for thieves in Park Slope this week.

Police said that someone snuck into a third-floor apartment on Sixth Avenue near President Street through a kitchen window on May 7. A Louis Vuitton bag, a laptop computer and a camera were taken.

That same day, someone crawled into the bedroom window of an Eighth Avenue apartment near Fifth Street. About $2,000 in jewelry and a $4,000 laptop computer were taken.

Call for help

A $400 cell phone was swiped from a Verizon truck parked on Fourth Avenue last week, police were told.

The phone company employee said that he had left the phone inside the van parked between Degraw and Douglass streets at 11 a.m. on May 5.

He returned to the van at 2:30 p.m., but the phone and a laptop computer had already been carried off.

The employee admitted that he wasn’t sure if he had locked the side door.

Clutchy creepers

A visitor to our fair borough from San Francisco will always remember the time that he walked down 14th Street. That’s the time when a thief made off with his iPhone.

The 22-year-old said that he was chatting away in the phone as he walked down 14th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues at 11:05 p.m. on May 5 when the unidentified thief charged him.

The speedy thief plucked the phone out of his hand and ran down the block. He was last seen turning toward 15th Street.

President pluckings

Cops are investigating two burglaries on President Street that took place inside two adjoining homes at roughly the same time on the same day.

Police were told that someone forced open a window to a fourth-floor apartment on President Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues sometime between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on April 30. A Canon camera and $10 were taken.

The thief then reportedly hit a first-floor apartment next door, police said.

After squirming through an unlocked kitchen window, the thief removed a laptop computer and the 33-year-old tenant’s checkbook, police said.
