Killed in Coney
One man was killed and another was seriously wounded when gunshots echoed across Coney Island Saturday.
Cops from the 61st Precinct said that they were called to West 28th Street near Mermaid Avenue at 1:40 a.m. on June 7 where they found Akeem Blyden, a 22-year-old resident of West 27th Street, sprawled out on the ground.
Blyden had been shot in the head and torso and died at the scene, officials said. A handgun was found stowed in a backpack he was reportedly carrying.
As the investigation progressed, cops were called to Coney Island Hospital, where they found a second gunshot victim.
The male victim, 33, said that he had witnessed an unidentified man rob and shoot Blyden in the street.
When the gunman realized that the 33-year-old had witnessed the shooting, he turned and opened fire, hitting him four times.
The second victim had his girlfriend take him to Coney Island Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment, officials said.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this slaying to come forward.

Bogus badges
Two men pretending to be NYPD detectives are being sought for ransacking a Sheepshead Bay man’s home of thousands of dollars in cash, as well as a rare comic book collection valued at $60,000, police were told.
Investigators from the 61st Precinct were told last week that the two men, described only as white males in their early to mid thirties, knocked on their victim’s door on East 14th Street near Avenue Z at 12:30 a.m. on May 11, waking him from a deep sleep.
The thieves flashed badges and identified themselves as police officers. They said they were investigating a murder that took place nearby and needed to speak to him about it, officials were told.
But when the victim cracked the door open, the thieves kicked it in, pulled guns and announced a robbery.
Police were told that the suspects bound their victim with zip ties and then ransacked the place, claiming that they were looking for a safe.
After the victim said he had no safe, the thieves called him a liar and threatened to cut off his fingers with a drywall saw if he didn’t tell them where the safe was.
After much convincing on the victim’s part, the thieves gave up their search for the safe and fled the home with $40,000 in cash, the comic book collection and a Movado watch.
The victim wasn’t harmed, officials said.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Baby criminals
Three little thieves, the oldest 13, the youngest 11, are being sought in connection with a Bensonhurst robbery.
Police were told that a 45-year-old woman was walking past the corner of 82nd Street and 23rd Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on June 3 when the pre-teen trio ran up to her and demanded her property.
The three then attacked, running off with her bag.
No injuries were reported.
Chain taken
A 16-year-old was robbed of his gold chain after being followed into a grocery near the corner of 85th Street and 18th Avenue, officials said.
The victim said that he was walking along 18th Avenue just before 3 a.m. on June 6 when an unidentified thief came up to him.
The man said that he wanted the teen to follow him. When the teen refused and walked off, the thief followed him to a nearby late-night grocery and ripped the chain off his neck, officials said.
Cops were still looking for the thief as this paper went to press.
Robbing with Raid
Cops are looking for the thief who sprayed roach spray into a young woman’s face during an attempted purse-snatching on Brown Street.
Police said that the victim, 20, had just finished parking her car near Avenue X just before 3 a.m. on June 4 when a masked man attacked her – squirting the noxious chemical right in her face.
Despite being temporarily blinded, the woman fought back, forcing the thief to run off empty-handed.
Chased into handcuffs
Three alleged thieves were arrested last week when they chased a 26-year-old man right into the arms of a police officer.
Cops were told that the victim was walking along 20th Avenue near 89th Street at 12:30 a.m. on June 2 when 20-year-old Frank Oddo, 18-year-old Robert Casglios and 16-year-old Frank Carusso allegedly crept up from behind and pulled a knife on him.
“Give me your money or you’re done,” one of the thieves allegedly threatened.
Instead of forking over his cash, the victim ran off.
The thieves gave chase, but were apprehended when their pursuit brought them right past a police officer.
All three were charged with robbery, officials said.
Scooter smack
A 33-year-old man was attacked with a scooter as he played basketball in Seth Low Park, officials said last week.
Officials said that the victim was shooting hoops near the corner of Bay Ridge Parkway and Bay Parkway at 7:15 p.m. on June 8 when he got into a spat with another player.
That’s when his opponent picked up a scooter from the ground and swung it, hitting him square in the face.
The victim suffered a cut to his face, but was otherwise uninjured.
The scooter swinger was still at large as this paper went to press.
Yeshiva burglarized
Hundreds of dollars in computer equipment was taken from an area yeshiva currently under construction, cops were told this week.
Workers at Bais Sara Congregation Machne Chaim, 6101 16th Avenue, told police that someone entered the school sometime after 2 a.m. on June 8, removing several laptop computers and plasma monitors.
Cops were told that the school has been operating for two years even though work is still being done to the building.
Because of that, the building has been left unsecured – something that school officials plan to rectify.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Bludgeoned with bottle
Police are looking for the thug who hit another man over the head with a glass bottle as he robbed him of his wallet on Avenue O near Bay Parkway, officials said.
The suspect, described only as a white male, approached his victim as he made his way home at 11:45 p.m. on May 27, and demanded that he fork over his money, officials were told.
When the victim refused, the thief hit him over the head with the bottle and ran off with his wallet.
Cops are investigating the possibility that this incident and the one above it could be related, since they occurred so close to one another.
Anyone with information regarding either of these crimes is urged to contact the 62nd Precinct at (718) 236-2611. All calls will be kept confidential.
