Police: Man tries to steal from store and punches employee

Police cuffed a 32-year-old man who they say slugged a worker at a Fifth Avenue clothing store as he attempted to flee with some ill-gotten attire on Oct. 23.

A worker told police he spotted the suspect grab some jackets off shelves at the store between 49th and 50th streets at 10:50 am, and, when the employee tried to stop him from leaving, the man socked him in the arm.

Cops arrested the man that day, charging him with felony robbery, according to police.

Stick it to ’em

Cops busted a man for alleged possession of an illegal baton after pulling him over on Eighth Avenue on Oct. 25.

The officer told police that he stopped the suspect for driving a 2004 BMW with excessive window tints near Prospect Avenue at 12:10 am, when he noticed the bludgeon tucked beside the driver’s seat, and he arrested the guy on a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon.

Heavy metal

Cops arrested a man for allegedly attacking another guy with a length of rebar on 65th Street on Oct. 23.

The victim told police he was arguing with the suspect between Second and Third avenues at 2:45 pm, when the guy grabbed the metal rod and smashed him with it.

Police cuffed their suspect that day on a felony assault charge, cops said.

Door knocker

Police arrested a man for allegedly breaking his way into the lobby of a 41st Street residential building on Oct. 27.

A witness told police the suspect busted the front door and two windows of the building between Seventh and Eighth avenues at 12:55 am.

When police arrived, the suspect was still standing at the front of the building smashing it with a metal object, and he was arrested on a felony burglary charge, cops said.
