Police ask for public’s help finding missing Brighton Beach teen

The Police Department is asking for help locating a 14-year-old girl from Brighton Beach who went missing late last month.

According to authorities, Shahnez Missaoui was last seen leaving her residence near Neptune Avenue and Brighton 3rd Street, within the confines of the 60th Precinct, at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.

Missaoui was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweatpants and black sandals and is described by police as being Asian with black eyes and curly black hair. She is approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 120 pounds. 

According to The Missing, approximately 13,000 people were reported missing in New York City in 2014 and about 35 people go missing in the city each day, with the five boroughs accounting for about 40% of the state’s missing children reports. 

Anyone with information in regard to Missaoui’s whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) @NYPDTips.
