Express to jail
Police arrested a straphanger who they say stole a fellow subway rider’s phone as the two rode an N train on Oct. 1.
When the train pulled into the 86th Street Station at Avenue U and W. Seventh Street in Gravesend at 9:38 am, the suspect allegedly tried to slap a Samsung Galaxy 3 from his victim’s hand, police said.
The smack didn’t work, so police say the suspect ripped the device from the man’s grip and jumped out of the train, according to the authorities. The victim started chasing the accused, which got nearby cops’ attention, law enforcement officials said.
Police nabbed the alleged snatcher a block away on W. Eighth Street, but they did not recover the phone, police said.
