Phantom transaction
Police arrested an Avenue U department store employee who they say helped a man steal clothes on Jan. 31.
Around noon, cops say the 19-year-old suspect — who works at the store near E. 54th Street — was caught on camera bagging $2,000 worth of clothes to an unknown man without paying for any of it. Cops arrested her at the store at 5:50 pm.
Break and grab
A prowler stole a purse from a car parked on Utica Avenue on Jan. 31.
The vehicle owner told police that she left her ride between the Avenues I and J around 7:45 pm, and when she returned minutes later, she found her rear passenger-side window broken and her pocketbook gone, according to cops.
Police say the nogoodnik got away with three of her credit cards and a debit card.
Car break-in
A baddie busted the window of a car parked on E. 49th Street on Jan. 30.
The victim told police she left her four-wheeler near Avenue J around 9 pm, locked it, and went to a pal’s house nearby. When she returned two hours later, she saw her back seat passenger window shattered and her bookbag — containing her laptop and wallet — gone, according to the report.
