Die-hard basketball fan
Police arrested a man who they say chased another man into a W. 33rd Street building on Sept. 13 — where he beat him up for his basketball, said police.
The victim told police that at 12:30 pm the suspect chased him up to the second floor of an apartment building between Mermaid and Surf avenues, cornered him, and began punching him in the face. The suspect gave the victim a black eye and bruises on his neck, police reported.
The man stole the victim’s basketball and fled on foot, said police.
Bad first impression
Officers cuffed a man for assaulting a woman in a W. 31st Street building on Sept. 13, said police.
The victim told officers that as she got off the elevator in her apartment building between Mermaid and Surf avenues at 11:40 am she noticed an unknown man sitting in the lobby.
The woman asked the man if he lived in the building, and he responded with “f— you” and began punching the woman in the face and head, said police. The woman was also kicked in the left leg, leaving her with brusies, and was removed to Coney Island Hospital for further evaluation, according to a police report.
After the woman was discharged from the hospital she positively identified a photo of the suspect, said police.
Frenemy
A woman was arrested for slashing the neck of a so-called friend on Brighton Sixth Street on Sept. 14, said police.
The victim told police she was near Neptune Avenue at 3:35 pm to meet the suspect and discuss their relationship, which led to a verbal dispute that soon got physical. The suspect tried to punch the victim, then pulled out a knife, and slashed her on the neck, police reported.
Cops say the suspect then went to the victim’s home and broke her bedroom window.
Cane bash
Police arrested a woman who they say hit a man in the head with a cane on Surf Avenue on Sept. 17, said police.
The victim told police he was in a verbal dispute with the suspect in an apartment building between W. 27th and W. 28th streets at 7:45 pm when she struck him in the head with her cane.
Oh, the irony
A thief slipped into a man’s car he left unlocked — due to a faulty alarm system — on Bath Avenue on Sept. 11 and made off with his wallet, said police.
The victim told police he left his vehicle unlocked between Bay 43rd and Bay 44th streets due to a broken alarm system that constantly goes off when the car is locked. The victim forgot to remove his wallet from the car and when he returned to retrieve it at 10 pm, he discovered it was gone, said police.
