Police cuffed a 36-year-old guy who they say swiped a guy’s wallet as he was walking to the bank on McDonald Avenue on June 9.
The victim was near Gravesend Neck Road on his way to the bank at 6:05 pm when the suspect came up from behind him, hit his arm, and grabbed his wallet from his hand, police said.
The suspect took off but the guy chased after him and held him down until police came, according to authorities. The suspect refused to give police his real name, officials noted.
Break-in
A crook broke into a elderly man’s house on E. 16th Street on May 19 and stole a wad of cash, police said.
The 78-year-old man told police that the jerk broke the padlock to his house on Avenue U sometime between noon and 2:30 pm and took $1,200 from his drawer. The victim reported the break-in on June 7.
Threat of identity theft
A dirtbag broke into a woman’s Coney Island Avenue apartment while she was at work on June 7 and stole her Social Security card and birth certificate, police said.
The punk broke in through the woman’s front door near Avenue S while she was at work sometime between 7:45 am to 8:30 pm and rummaged through her bedroom, snatching birth certificates, Social Security cards, her apartment lease, and her Gucci wallet, according to authorities.
Treasure seeker
A criminal broke into a woman’s home on Avenue R and stole a whole safe-worth of jewelry and coins on June 7, according to authorities.
The 60-year-old woman told police the lawbreaker broke into her home near E. 16th Street by causing damage to the front door window and then unlocking the door latch from inside sometime between 4 and 11 pm.
The knave then ran up to her bedroom on the third floor and stole gold coins, gold watches, silver coins, rings, and gold watches from one safe, and then left the house with another safe, police said.
He can’t pop the question!
A malefactor broke into a guy’s home on Shore Parkway while he was at work on June 7 and stole a bunch of expensive jewelry — including an engagement ring, police said.
The victim told police he left for work at 9:20 am, and when he got back to his home near E. 11th Street at 11:20 pm, noticed some jerk had kicked open and damaged his front door and swiped a gold necklace, bracelet, and earrings, a Michael Kors gold watch, a Michael Kors black onyx watch, a Michael Kors silver watch, and a Zales engagement ring.
Scared off
Two knaves tried to break into a variety store on Coney Island Avenue on June 9, police said.
Video footage shows the punks broke the gate in front of the store near Avenue P at 4:28 am and attempted to pry open the door but had no luck. An alarm scared the two weasels off at 4:35 am, according to authorities.
