Cookies worth stealing
Cops cuffed a woman for stealing from a Nostrand Avenue bodega on Feb. 27.
The suspect put a pack of Oreos from the store near Avenue X in her bag at about 8:10 pm, and tried to leave. But when a worker tried to stop her, the woman hit him, causing redness and scratches, according to authorities.
The suspect then fled out of the back of the store, police said.
Tool thief
A nogoodnik broke into a guy’s commercial vehicle parked on Gerritsen Avenue on Feb. 24 and stole a bunch of tools, police said.
The vehicle owner told police he left his truck near Lois Avenue at 3 pm, and when he returned at 7:30 am on Feb. 27, he noticed damage to the rear door lock. There was no broken glass, officials said.
The jerk broke in through the back door and swiped a chipping gun harbor freight, a snap-on grinder, a DeWalt screw gun and circular saw, and a drill, according to authorities.
Close but no cigar
A malefactor tried to break into a drugstore on Avenue U sometime overnight on Feb. 24, police said.
The vandal cut a padlock on the rolldown gate of the store near E. 27th Street sometime between Feb. 24 at 8 pm and 9 am the next day, according to authorities. The punk successfully cut through one of the locks, but couldn’t get past the second one, according to authorities.
While she was sleeping
A criminal broke into an elderly woman’s W. Third Street home while she was napping on March 4, police said.
The 80-year-old woman told police she was asleep on her couch in her home near Avenue Y at about 4:45 pm when she woke up to get something from her fridge and saw the cur standing in her back hallway.
She and the baddie had a short conversation about why he was there, and then the crook fled through the front door, according to authorities. The malefactor broke in through the rear door and left a small tool behind, officials said.
