He had a nut loose
Cops cuffed a supposedly wrench-wielding suspect after he snatched a woman’s phone at the intersection of Stillwell Avenue and Avenue S in Gravesend on Aug. 6, according to police.
Officers said the suspect grabbed the woman’s phone at 3:30 am. The victim started chasing him, but he whipped out the tool and she ran screaming into the street, law enforcement officials said.
A nearby police officer saw the fracas, chased the man down, and cuffed him kicking and screaming, a report states.
Do-gooders done wrong
A pair of brutes beat up and robbed a man and woman who tried to stop them from stealing a license plate on 86th Street on Aug. 10, according to cops.
The good Samaritans saw the punks trying to take a license plate off their friend’s parked car near Bay 17th Street in Bath Beach at 9:40 pm and confronted the would-be thieves, but the goons pummeled them and stole two chains valued at $1,800, police said.
Paramedics treated the beat-up do-gooders, who sustained injuries to their eyes, face, and chest, officers said.
Rise and hide
A home invader who tried to climb into a 19th Avenue bedroom window turned tail and fled when he realized a resident was sleeping in the room on Aug. 9, police said.
The burglar climbed through a window at the apartment between 62nd and 63rd streets in Borough Park at 4:25 am, but when he rattled the blinds, it startled a resident sleeping in the room, NYPD officers stated.
The victim screamed and the prowler fled on 62nd Street toward 18th Avenue, cops said.
Forget the car
A burglar who knew what he wanted broke into a car in order to get access to a 62nd Street garage and steal a hedge trimmer on Aug. 6, according to the authorities.
The sneak slipped into the backyard of the home between Bay Parkway and 23rd Avenue at 3:55 am and may have used a universal key to unlock the victim’s car, police said.
Once in the car, the crook used a garage door opener therein to access a nearby garage, law enforcement officials said. The thief stole a hedge trimmer and made the getaway on a bicycle westbound on 62nd Street, cops reported.
