Creative youngsters had gourds of pre-Halloween fun when Mazzone’s True Value hosted a pumpkin-painting party %u2013 complete with 25,000 pounds of orange beauties, paint and tools to spawn the most spooktacular squash, plus a strolling clown to tickle the funnybone.
Budding artists set to work at the hardware store on 4th Place and Court Street, transforming plain ol’ pumpkins into jack o’lantern masterpieces in honor of the calendar’s most phantastic day with face-painters, pony rides and refreshments capping the festive frolic.
“This is the kind of event that brings out the best in both the people that make their living here, and the people that live here,” said owner Matthew Mazzone, adding that close to 20 local businesses participated in the widely-anticipated annual spectacle, now in its fifth year.
