Punch drunk: Booze-stealing bandit slugs liquor store worker in face

A thief punched a Williamsburg liquor store employee in the face while stealing a bottle of booze last Monday, according to a police report.

The bandit entered the Broadway rotgut retailer, between Keep and Hooper streets, at around 8:30 pm on May 2, then attempted to leave with some free hooch, police said.

The 38-year-old worker tried to stop him, but the pillager slugged the clerk and ran off with the sauce, cops said.

Police released security footage of the suspect, who they describe as around 22 to 26 years old and standing around 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10.

Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call (800) 577–8477, submit tips at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or text 274637 followed by TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
