The punchless Brooklyn Aviators dropped a 3–1 decision to the Danbury Whalers in the land of many rivers on Wednesday after suffering two devastating injuries and the loss of one of their highest scorers.

Since the departure of right-winger Chris Jones — who scored five goals for Brooklyn before leaving the team to play in France, a foreign country — our Avs have become the Av-nots.

But the Whalers didn’t have such problems on Wednesday. They’re sticks came alive in the second — netting all three of their goals before the buzzer sounded.

Only Defenseman Jarrett Rush managed to slap home a point for the Aviators, which came late in the third.

This was the Aviators second loss to Danbury in a week. Brooklyn’ Boys of Winter fell to Connecticut 3-2 at the Aviator Sports and Events Center — known to true fans (and our readers) as the Hangar — on Nov. 12.

The Brooklyn Aviators will be back home to play the Cape Cod Bluefins at Aviator Sports [3159 Flatbush Ave. in Floyd Bennett Field in Marine Park, (718) 758-7580] on Nov. 18 at 7:35 pm. Tickets $12 ($10 for seniors and children under 14). For information visit www.brooklynaviators.com.
