R.I.P. for RIF program

Ten members of Community Board 10 were in the spotlight, recently, honored for their dedication to the board and the community.

Allen Bortnick, Bob Cassara, Tom Colasuonno, Ida D’Amelio, Scott Klein, Eleanor Petty, George Prezioso, Susan Pulaski, Helen Sokoloski and Lawrence Stelter were presented with certificates for perfect attendance at board meetings during the calendar year 2008, by Italia Guerrero, who attended the meeting on behalf of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

Guerrero, a policy analyst for Markowitz, told the board members. “The borough president understands that this is a volunteer position. You guys play a very important role.”

Each of the city’s 59 community boards has 50 members, who serve two−year terms as volunteers. Half of the board members are appointed by the borough president; the other half are appointed by the city councilmember or councilmembers who represent the area.
