s the summer heats up, so does Revival Reggae Sundays at the all new LOX Lounge, 15 Putnam Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
The weekly dance party has been hailed as “the revival” of the New York reggae scene. Revival Reggae Sundays features an all-star line up of New York’s premiere DJs including DJ Silence of 107.9 Flava FM and DJ Jase of Pointblank Sound.
June 15 brings Freddy McGregor vs. Chuck Fenda in a musical tribute at 9 p.m. McGregor has become a legend in his time and has established a name. The Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer, has been moving people with his conscious lyrics for over 40 years. Chuck Fenda, The “Poor People Defenda,” is continuing his mission of spreading righteousness and speaking on behalf of the less fortunate around the world.
June 22 brings The British Invasion featuring The BBC Crew: International Reggae Night also at 9 p.m. Straight out of London, the Black British Crew DJs have successfully crossed the Atlantic ocean and have made inroads into the US dancehalls. Now based in NYC, the crew has brought its special blend of lover’s rock and foundation reggae.
