On track for fun run
Put on your trainers, and put your hands together for the St. Edmund’s Prep Cross Country Track Team. These fast-paced kids, along with coach Jim Cappiello and assistant coach Mike Koplin, participated in the 5K Dan’s Fun Run race in Gerritsen Beach on Sept. 17.
The event benefits the Colon Cancer Alliance and its Blue Hope Financial Assistance Program. Started by cancer survivor Dan Foster more than 20 years ago, the run is designed to bring people together to heighten awareness and encourage cancer screenings.
Standing O pal coach Cappiello has been a long-time supporter.
“Together with our partners in the Prospect Park Runners Club and the Gerritsen Beach ‘Beach Rat’ CYO Runners, the St. Edmund’s Track Team raised nearly $2,100 in support of this worthy cause,” he said.
The track team students included: Edwin Castillo, David Kingsley, Jayden McKenzie, Joshua McKenzie, Shane Moeller, Gerard Sullivan, Christopher Quagliariello, Jared Rios, Jeddi Tso, Ashley Browne, Jessica Lopez, Jacinda Thermidor, Minnthu Aye, Bryant Jones, Wilmer Liang, Gillani Peets, Nicholas Tom, and Marvins Vernet.
Standing O says, “Thanks and keep on running.”
