Year 2009 arrived with a bang for thrill seekers, who converged at Grand Army Plaza to welcome Father Time amid a dazzling display of fireworks.

Thousands of boroughites made merry beneath Brooklyn’s famed arch as it played host to the pyrotechnic spectacle, which exploded the sky in a cavalcade of colors and had jubilant frolickers watching in wonderment — and jumping with joy — as the 10-minute shimmer-fest ushered in a new year.
