Robbed trucker fights back

Money dropped

In a scene lifted from an action movie, two thugs attempted a brazen daylight robbery on a delivery truck on Jan. 6, netting them big gains — and some time in the hospital.

The crooks held up a beverage company truck as he made a money drop at a Manhattan Avenue bank near the corner of Greenpoint Avenue. When the muggers slugged the wheelman in the face, he dropped a canvas bag containing the cash.

But the driver gave chase — in his delivery truck! — and ran down a 21-year-old suspect, leaving him with an injured leg. The other crook made off with the money, cops said.

Jacket envy

A cruel crook slashed a 16-year-old in the face for his jacket on Jan. 9.

The hoodlum confronted his victim on Roebling Street between North Fifth and North Sixth streets at around 3:45 pm and pulled out a blade.

“I want that jacket,” the thug said, before stabbing the victim and fleeing.

Caught in the act

An Eagle Street woman returned home on Jan. 8 to find two guests in her apartment — burglarizing her home!

The victim happened upon the crime at around 3:10 pm when she opened the door to find a man standing in the middle of her living room, pilfering her belongings.

“Holy s–t, let’s go, let’s go!” the crook shouted to an accomplice, who emerged from the victim’s bedroom clutching her camera, computer, jewelry and laptop.

The crooks fled out the back door down an emergency exit and escaped from the building, which is between McGuinness Boulevard and Manhattan Avenue.

Drive-by snatch

Crooks in Greenpoint are going after women’s handbags then escaping in dark sedans. Here are the shocking details from three separate incidents:

• A bearded thug tussled at the corner of Meserole Avenue and Jewel Street with a 79-year-old woman for her pocketbook on Jan. 4, then fled in a dark car.

The mean mugger grabbed the victim at around 10:15 am, threw her to the ground, and wrestled her purse from her grasp before jumping into his car.

• Cops nabbed a thug who attempted to mug a 22-year-old for her handbag at North Tenth Street and Bedford Avenue on Jan. 8, but his accomplice got away in a black sedan.

The crooks had tried to yank the woman’s purse off her arm at around 4:30 pm, but the victim held on.

• Just hours later, a crook grabbed a 57-year-old woman’s purse and escaped in a black car.

The thug targeted a victim waiting for the bus at Nassau Avenue and Sutton Street at around 10:15 am, grabbed her bag, which contained car keys, a cellphone, credit cards, and cash, and fled in a black sedan.

Gunpoint grocery

Two gunmen robbed a Graham Avenue grocer of $700 on Jan. 10.

The crooks entered the shop at around 10 pm, and one pulled out a pistol and said, “Give me the money.”

A clerk forked over the cash and the crooks forced two other store employees to hand over their wallets, cellphones, and credit cards before they fled from the shop, which is near the corner of Engert Avenue.
